Susanne Sheperd Post

Susanne Shepherd Post is a licensed cosmetologist and salon owner based in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a survivor of domestic abuse and co-founder of the Shear Haven initiative with YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee. Shear Haven was founded in 2017 and teaches beauty professionals how to spot the signs of domestic violence and respond appropriately.
In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and when on-site trainings were no longer possible, they teamed up with Barbicide® to offer the Shear Haven training online. Since launching in October of 2020, 80,000+ beauty professionals in over 100 countries have been certified. In 2021, Susanne and YWCA helped pass legislation requiring DV awareness training for all licensed beauty professionals in Tennessee.
Susanne has been featured in local, national, and international media, including the Washington Post and Irish Daily Mail. She has received several awards for her dedication to ending domestic violence.

National Conference isn’t about YWCA USA, it’s about our broad network of local YWCA associations that implement the work at the local level for women, families, and people of color every day. It’s a time for our Local Associations to share, as a community of learning, and to walk away inspired by each other and the work of the YWCA family. It is a time for the YWCA movement, united as One YWCA, to share and celebrate our history, our mission and impact, planning for the work ahead, and continuing to write our YWCA story.
